Banks Lay Groundwork for Commercial Comeback
A recent Federal Reserve Board survey of senior loan officers found that more than 13% of respondents noticed stronger commercial real estate demand in the fourth quarter, up from 1.8% a year earlier.

Nominations for Frontier Awards Due Jan 31

Nominations for the 2012 Frontier Awards are now being accepted. Presented by TCAR (www.TCAR.com), the Triangle Commercial Association of REALTORS®, the awards honor top commercial real estate brokers for their outstanding service to the community, industry and the association. Individuals can nominate their favorite commercial real estate professional by downloading the form at www.TCAR.com. The deadline for submission is Jan. 31, 2012.

“The Frontier Awards highlight the accomplishments of TCAR members and their contributions to the community,” says Kerry Saunders, TCAR president. “These professional men and women are often the first point of contact for new companies considering locating in the region. For the 10 Best U.S. Airports for Wi-Fi, RDU ranked #1, followed by CLT at #2. RDU ranked #4 among the 10 Most Tech-Friendly Terminals. And RDU also ranked #10 among the 10 Best U.S. Airports for Cell Coverage.

2012 TCAR President NAI Carolantic Realty Named New Vice President

NAI Carolantic Realty’s Chairman, Steve Stroud has named their long-time Director of Marketing, Kerry Saunders, as the Company’s new Vice President. “Kerry’s unique qualifications, combined with her dedication to excellence, her clear vision and her natural talent for organization and management, make her the natural choice as our Company’s Vice President,” said Stroud.

Since joining the Company in 1987, Ms. Saunders has helped steer NAI Carolantic to the top spot as the region’s leading commercial real estate enterprise. She has been the organizing force behind NAI Carolantic’s award winning Annual Triangle Commercial Real Estate Conference and the Company’s subsequent annual Triangle Real Estate Report publication.

A well respected member of the region’s commercial real estate community, Ms. Saunders has been the recipient of a number of awards and honors. In 2010, she received the William P. Eyerman Award from the Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors. The award is presented to an individual who has had a significant impact within the commercial real estate industry. In 2009, she received the Best Professional Commercial Real Estate Service Award, presented by Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women. In 1999, the Triangle Business Journal awarded Ms. Saunders their Women in Business Award. And also in 1999, she was presented the Woman of the Year Award at the Champion Awards sponsored by Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women. She is a charter member of TCREW and served two terms as President.

Ms. Saunders is currently serving as President of the Triangle Commercial Association of REALTORS® (TCAR) which is one of 1,800 local associations of REALTORS® nationwide that comprise the National Association of REALTORS®. TCAR is the second largest commercial overlay board in North Carolina with 600 members and serves a 14-county area, including the Triangle, for real estate practitioners, appraisers, property managers, and other professionals allied with the real estate industry.

Ms. Saunders holds a BS in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of Florida. Prior to joining NAI Carolantic, Ms. Saunders spent five years recruiting industry to a metropolitan area as the Assistant Manager of Economic Development at the city’s Chamber of Commerce.

Unified Commercial Real Estate Finalizes $3.7M Wake Forest Deal

Vijay Shah of Unified Commercial Real Estate, a Triangle-area commercial real estate brokerage, represented Heritage Realty of Chapel in their purchase of the Shoppes at Heritage in Wake Forest.

Shah, a Certified Commercial Investment Manager, negotiated the $3.7M transaction. The fully-leased, 22,000SF retail center in Wake Forest boasts a strong mix of tenants, such as Little Caesar’s, Da Vinci’s Pork Store, O’Dwyer’s Irish Pub, 101 Wine and Triangle Dry Cleaning. Several tenants recently signed renewals, underscoring the success of the Wake Forest retail center.

Heritage Realty of Chapel was seeking to invest in 100% leased incoming-producing asset in the Raleigh-Durham area.
